I have been a part of Netcall, formerly known as Voice Integrated Products Ltd (VIP), for over three decades now. It’s amazing to think back to when I first started in May 1992. At that time, Netcall was just a fledgling company, formed a year earlier by two founding partners who had written the code in their bedrooms! As the first proper employee, I joined my former colleagues, having previously worked with them at TMS (Telephone Management Systems Ltd). My first job title was “Software Engineer” which was the same role I had performed at TMS. Our one and only product was called “SpeakEasy” an MS DOS based voicemail and auto attendant application.
Due to the small size of the organisation, I had to wear many hats, from building the kit and installing it on customer sites to handling customer support calls and contributing to the development of the application. Over time, the business rapidly grew and our product portfolio expanded.
Since then, I have moved away from core development and taken on a mixed role of Product Management, Consultancy and Service Delivery. I have been involved in many exciting projects over the years and have had the opportunity to grow and learn new skills. Despite many changes to the organisation over the years, I still love my job and the challenges it brings. I feel valued and know that I can make a difference.
My Netcall journey began in 2008 as an Accounts Assistant, I joined the team in a junior role at the beginning of my accounting studies. I have progressed within the team in numerous roles alongside completing my AAT Accounting Technician Qualification. Once qualified, I transitioned into my current role of Project Accountant and have recently been studying towards my CIMA qualification. The support and encouragement I have received in my studies and personal development has allowed me to achieve many career goals.
There have been many changes in my time at Netcall as we have grown as a business. This has provided opportunities to learn and improve, alongside exposure to new systems and processes. I feel I am constantly gaining knowledge and adapting, no two working days have ever been the same.
The people at Netcall have been the biggest contributor to my successes to date. I feel a real sense of harmony at Netcall, working with like-minded people, sharing knowledge, offering assistance in busier times and achieving success together.
I joined Netcall as a Product Owner in September 2018, working in Professional Services. Having come from a much larger organisation, I was looking forward to working in a much flatter organisation, where I could see the CEO and CTO walking around the same office that I was in.
My first project was working in Central Government, which was my first time leading a project. I was really impressed by the team I worked with, and especially with the Core platform teams that were really reactive and responsive when there were difficulties delivering to the specific requirements. I learnt a lot about the tools that Netcall offer, and went on to deliver other major projects for our enterprise insurance customers.
I’ve since become a Solution Architect so that I can be more involved in projects from conception and work across multiple delivery streams to make sure that things are working correctly together. My goal is always to make improvements wherever I can, and the earlier I can get involved then the easier it is to put things on the right path. I have really enjoyed my time at Netcall, and feel that we do a good job working together, avoiding siloed thinking and understanding the wider impact of decisions made.
I joined Netcall in 2008 as a Professional Services Engineer within the Operations team. During the five years that followed I was able to gain considerable technical experience installing systems whilst also doubling up as a Project Manager where required.
Following this I had the opportunity to work in a more technical role supporting Field Engineers and Project Managers as a Project Support Analyst. I worked closely with the team to improve processes and assist with third line technical issues which spring boarded me into gaining a promotion as the Project Quality Manager 2 years later.
Having my own team and oversight of the Production department presented new challenges and operational improvements to explore. In 2019, I transitioned to the Senior Professional Services Engineering role, as a third line resource for the operations team.
In 2022, I accomplished something I had been looking to do for a number of years which was to transition back into software development. The opportunity presented itself to become a Testing Analyst in the QA team and with the experience I had gained within Operations I felt able to sell myself and demonstrate what an asset I could be. It has been a fairly natural transition and my product knowledge has held me in very good stead. I’m constantly getting exposed to new technical challenges and I’m really looking forward to seeing where things go from here.
I joined as a Trainer in September 2015. At that time, MatsSoft was a fairly small software company in Bedford with an innovative product in a new market that I’d not heard of before, low-code. It immediately caught my interest as I could see its potential and how powerful it could be, as well as being a great product to train new customers on.
From being a Trainer, I was then offered the opportunity to become the Training Manager when Netcall acquired MatsSoft in 2017. The opportunity to work for a larger team, all highly skilled with products within the existing Netcall product suite, was impossible to turn down so I jumped at the chance.
Over the next couple of years, as well as delivering training to customers on a face to face basis, I also started to create an online, eLearning based, training solution. It’s a real source of satisfaction that the Netcall Academy has some of its roots in those early days of content creation and has, thanks to the hard work of my team and other colleagues within Netcall, grown to be where we now house all of our eLearning training for the whole of our product suite.
From that point to now, it’s been an interesting, fun and rewarding journey, with the odd bump along the way, which I hope to continue for many years to come.
In 2018, I joined Netcall as a Travel Co-ordinator in the Finance team, booking flights, hotels and organising events like the Summer and Christmas party.
Three years later, following Covid and moving to working from home, I jumped at the chance to work in the HR team which allowed me to build on my knowledge and skills. Since then I’ve learned a lot about HR and how to support our people as the company continues to grow.
I am very fortunate to have worked in two great departments within Netcall and work with so many great people. My colleagues are encouraging, talented and always around to support at times of need. Netcall is a diverse employer and I get to interact with colleagues from various nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Netcall is sensitive to balancing work and personal time and always ready to provide assistance or development to learn new skills. Our successes, milestones and achievements are always recognised. I’m really excited to see what the future holds for me within Netcall.
My journey with Netcall began during the lockdown, where all interviews were conducted via video calls, as Head of InfoSec within the Netcall Operations Team. Interestingly, this remote introduction to Netcall perfectly exemplified the company’s core values. Every effort was made to ensure effective communication of meeting timings, clear definition of expectations, and provision of concise and accurate supporting information, in a friendly manner. During our conversations, the focus was on understanding me as an individual and ensuring an alignment of skills, capabilities, behaviours and cultural fit. Building relationships across the organisation has been a key aspect of my work, and I am grateful for the incredible support and assistance I have received from everyone.
My area of responsibility at Netcall centres around driving continuous improvement, and the company’s core values are specifically designed to foster a friendly and supportive environment conducive to such progress.
Despite the relatively brief period I have been with the company, I have already experienced several career highlights. With Netcall’s core values and the support of my manager this journey of achievement will only continue. I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to work for exceptional companies and gain valuable experience throughout my career. I am genuinely enthusiastic about our shared potential and am eager to see what the future holds together.
I began my journey at Netcall in March 2020, right at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the challenging circumstances, I am proud to have been part of a team that worked tirelessly to assist the NHS and local councils in adapting to the new challenges they faced.
Netcall played a vital role in building new Covid-19 contact centres as well as collaborating with Public Health and Local Councils to develop track and trace systems. It was inspiring to witness how our solutions empowered healthcare professionals and local authorities to effectively manage the pandemic.
Throughout this period, Netcall’s commitment to making a positive impact was evident. As a Professional Services Engineer, I had the opportunity to contribute to these projects, working closely with dedicated teams across the country to deliver innovative solutions.
I had the pleasure of experiencing Netcall’s supportive and collaborative culture first hand. The company truly values and recognises the contributions of each individual, fostering a motivating environment where colleagues are deeply passionate about their work. Netcall offers a flexible working environment that accommodates the unique needs of every employee, ensuring their wellbeing and satisfaction.
I am grateful to be part of this remarkable team and eagerly anticipate the continued success of Netcall.
In 2012, I took the decision to leave my job in IT support and joined Serengeti Systems team as a Junior Consultant. This was a varied role with tasks including on site installations, support, implementations, training, project management and database administration. Here I was working predominantly within the local government, social housing and higher education sectors interacting with contacts from all levels of business. I was able to quickly develop my skills and soon after drop the Junior element from my job title.
In late 2012 we were acquired by Netcall and the additional support provided by the Netcall management enabled us to introduce more structure and see the consultancy team start to focus on specialism areas between technical and project management. This eventually took me to the role of Solution Specialist, becoming a key escalation point to the business for implementation or support matters bridging the gap between core products and delivery teams.
As time progressed, my day to day shifted and skills transferred to having the opportunity to work on large scale Liberty Create projects to becoming a senior developer in that team and leading my own projects. Today I am now an Application Development Team Lead for the Create Delivery team, retaining the senior developer responsibilities with the addition of managing key areas of the delivery team in both people and leading the maintenance and implementation of new practices, governance and standards for the team as a whole.
As a Games Development graduate, I have found Netcall to be a welcoming company with a cultural diversity amongst employees. My contribution matters and I get to share my background and opinions to reach the collective end goal.
In my role as an Application Developer, I’ve been fortunate to receive a fantastic opportunity in the technology sector, providing me with a strong foundation for my future career. Netcall stands out as an ideal employer for individuals seeking a launchpad into the world of low-code solution development.
Having transitioned from a Biomedical Science degree and expected career path, I decided that I wanted a change and applied for the Application Developer role at Netcall in October 2021. Thankfully Netcall has provided me with all the support I needed and more, both during my initial training period and now well into my first project. I’ve found everyone on the team friendly and approachable, which has further helped my transition. I see great potential for growth and development here and I’m glad to have joined during such an exciting period.
I began my Netcall career in 1995 when I joined Voice Integrated Products Ltd as an Installation Engineer. Over the following 27 years as the company has grown, I have found plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and work in different roles.
I have been a Trainer, delivering training to customers and our own internal staff. I’ve been a Solution Architect, working with our Account Managers to demonstrate our products and design solutions that are fit for our customer’s needs, a Project Manager delivering our solutions to our customers and currently I am a Solutions Specialist for the Liberty Converse platform, supporting our Professional Services team in all aspects of their implementations.
To anyone that may think that working at the same place for 27 years is unambitious I am happy to say that to date, I have had a varied and rewarding career at Netcall but best of all I have been able to have that career and still be working with a large number of the same people I started working with in 1995.
Netcall has a great atmosphere and friendly employees, which has made it very easy for me to settle in to the work environment. I mainly work with the Development team but there is good inter-department communication which allows for solutions to be developed quickly. The Development team is made up of a group of very talented people who work well together. If I am ever having trouble implementing anything I can reach out to the team for assistance – collaboration is a key part of how we work and our success.
During my time at Netcall, I’ve developed my JavaScript and CSS knowledge with the assistance of my peers. I am able to work on challenging tasks to improve my knowledge as well as having time every week that can be spent on personal development. I feel supported to develop myself and further my career at Netcall.
I started working for Netcall in March 2022 as a Site Reliability Engineer. I heard great things about working for the company which made me consider a position. I think I made the right choice accepting the role, as I enjoy working for Netcall.
My role allows me to work with a wide range of technologies and provides me with a near limitless potential for technical growth. No single day is the same. The best part of working for Netcall is probably that I am able to take ownership for the work I am doing. I never feel that I am being micro managed. I also thoroughly enjoy working with everyone in my team, they’re all a great bunch of people from all walks of life.
I joined Netcall in 2011, in the Business Development Team, generating new leads for the company within our sales team. I had moved from North Yorkshire to Dorset and thought about trying something new in my career, where I had previously been involved in nationwide project deliveries. Having worked in project management before, I decided after a year that sales wasn’t my ‘calling’ so asked within Netcall if there was an opportunity to move into Project Management and I was delighted to find that there was. I applied for the role and was successful so transitioned to join the other PMs.
I worked hard to learn the products, existing processes, the people and challenges that are involved in the project deliveries. After a few years I was promoted to Senior Project Manager, and through the growth of the company, the opportunity to become Project Management Team Lead where I took on the line management responsibility of the Project Managers and further involvement in our PMO office. My latest career steps were Head of Project Management in 2019 where I was responsible for the PM, PMO and Service Delivery, and in 2024 I became Director of Customer Services.
This change through roles has been alongside the company’s growth and the addition of new products and services, the growth within the team brought a lot of change within the company, to our processes and scale of projects we can complete. It’s been exciting and challenging in equal measure and I’m incredibly proud of the team that we have and the work they do.
Netcall as a company is really supportive, the people are great and fun to work with, everyone is very dedicated and they each bring the passion for what they do to the company. I know I’m bias but I can’t speak highly enough of the team that I have and work with.
